Hi!
I’m Paula Adams. Some of you will know me from my books, Visions, and others from my classes and still others will not know me at all. So let me tell you a little about myself and hopefully you will get to know me a little better and this will be the beginning of a long, exciting and fun relationship as we share our love of beading.
I live in New Mexico where I grew up. My twin sons are now grown and off on their own. I share my home with my father and four beautiful, spoiled cats that really do not see what I see in beads. It has been a dream of mine to one day offer my patterns to people world wide, and thanks to the wonders of the Internet, I am now able to fulfill that dream.
I have been beading and teaching (over 50 different designs) since 1988 (although my father and sister reminded me that I made a poinsettia center piece out of seed beads when I was in high school). About eight years ago I designed a Christmas ornament, but did not teach it, as it was so dimensional I wasn’t sure if I could. Well, my students kept asking for it, so about 3 years ago I taught it. Wow! That was the beginning of the most exciting time in beading that I have ever had. Not only did they get it – they kept asking for more. I have designed about 25 ornaments (with many variations of each) and have been teaching nothing but ornaments for the past three years – almost every Saturday until mid April 2006, when I stopped to dedicate my time to my web site. Some of these patterns are already available on my site and the rest will be coming as fast as I can get them out. They range in difficulty from the Beginning/Intermediate to very Advance. This past Christmas I had over 150 ornaments dangling from my Christmas tree and it was delightful! One of my students, Peggy, notified the newspaper and they came out and took a picture and ran a story about my tree (see the front page for a picture of the tree).
Before I started designing Christmas ornaments I was designing amulet bags, dimensional amulet bags, brooches of all kind, cabochon necklaces, earring, bracelet, and all kinds of stuff. Most of these will eventually be offered on my site.
I have designed and written two books and a booklet. The two books: Volume 1: Basic Cabochons and Volume 2: Netted Lace Amulet Bags are both out of print. I still have copies of the Booklet: The Cascade Necklace (which is available on this site). I am planning on redoing the patterns in the books, but this time in FULL color (much, much easier to follow) and make them available on this site. In fact, the instructions for creating a basic cabochon brooch is already available as a free pattern on this site
My hope for this web site is that you try some of the patterns and then expand on them to create your own beautiful designs. I have tried to give patterns at all levels of difficulty. The patterns do take awhile, so find a comfortable spot and have fun.
I want to thank my entire family for their help and encouragement. I also want to thank all my wonderful students that I have had the privilege of teaching over the years. You encouraged me, challenged me and brought me such great delight – thank you.
Enjoy and Happy Beading!
